Copper County Foods delivers food that has been frozen to preserve freshness , directly to the home. Our food is balanced nutritionally, packaged as complete meals, soups and desserts, catered to the senior market. Copper County Foods has generated a franchise network starting in Southern Ontario. Our franchises are developed to serve appointed territories within this region, with plans to expand throughout Canada.
Copper County Foods is based on the extremely successful Wiltshire Farm Foods franchise system from the United Kingdom. Both franchise systems have been created by apetito, a world organization producing frozen meals for the healthcare and homecare foodservice sector.

The Market
Copper County Foods targets primarily on the aging senior, typically over 75 living in their homes. Human Resources and Skills Canada, in 2010, estimate 4.8 million Canadians were 65 years of age and older, a number that is expected to double in the next 25 years to reach 10.4 million. Seniors make up the fastest growing age group in Canada, and will increase due to decreased fertility rate, an increase in life expectancy and most importantly the baby boom.
The service delivers familiar, home-made recipes with the ability to be stored and reheated at the customer’s convenience. Our primary focus is seniors, living independently in their homes, who may find completing household chores and getting around not as easy as it used to be. The meals in our product range also cater to older adults with diet restrictions imposed by their doctors or dieticians. We manufacture meals with a concentration on low sodium, fat and calories. We also target people with a disability or impairment who have difficulties preparing food on an everyday basis, and rely on a service that helps them.
The Franchisee
Far beyond the business opportunity, the person who gets involved with franchises catered to seniors genuinely wants to help these citizens live out their years in safety, dignity and in independence.
The admirable qualities Copper County Foods look for in a franchisee can be listed, starting with motivated, disciplined, responsible, optimistic, realist and confident. They should be strong at relationship management and good with people. Someone with a business background is desirable and those who have the aptitude to strategize as well as execute.
Overall a great franchisee is one that can work together with Copper County Foods to realize our ambition and be determined for success. Someone who loves their customers, just as much as the rewards and be committed to making people’s lives a little easier.
The Franchise
The Copper County Foods Franchise system is in its infancy here in Canada, but established overseas. It has all of the advantages found in newer franchise systems but doesn’t have the risk attached with it. The concept has been proven and is profitable. The expertise and experience drawn from the success of the Wiltshire Farm Foods model is a guideline to refer to here in Canada. Prospecting franchisees in Canada are favoured in that they can gather advantages from newer and older systems of franchising. Franchisees looking to Copper County Foods as an entrepreneurial opportunity can be pleased that costs are currently low, rules are less strict and documentation is still amenable as we grow. The type of business a Copper County Foods franchisee would be expected to run is an outbound sales and service business. A franchise like this has a low cost, in a home office, very relational and hands-on with high prospecting activity.
